This was the word used by our supervisors to describe this week, the week where we (me, A, and Benj) will be leaving the comforts of the UPCC to help out in the freshmen’s advanced registration at the OUR. They told us to expect to see the real CRS, and the palengke that it is.

And it didn’t disappoint. All day long we had to address the NUMEROUS requests of the RAs- add more slots to this section, allow overbooking for another, print a list of course descriptions for PE 2s, block any more trying to enlist in this class for the day, etc. And all the while hearing the constant shouts of ‘ENLISTMENT!’ in the background. Also, after a certain time, there were so many freshies in the room that it felt as hot as when we were outside.

The calm before the storm. In other words, the time when we could still feel the aircon. 😛

At first, we (or at least I) felt so useless. There were so many requests and we didn’t know what to do and kuya Karl had to do everything by himself. But eventually, we learned how to access the database and practice our querying skills. It was great and scary at the same time. A single line had the power to add more slots to the different classes, or to delete an entire table. 😮 With great power comes great responsibility.

Still, the week has just begun. There are a lot more things to learn and even more requests to fulfill. Good luck to us all 🙂

Weirdest request of the day: One of the RAs approached me and said, “Ate, wala nang papel ung printer. Pano un nilalagyan?” =))
