skyscrapers.

Well not really, they’re hardly skyscrapers when compared to NYC or something, but I don’t know. I’ve been going  to Makati everyday for a few weeks now, and the view still never gets old. (I know several other interns have similar views from their offices, but I am a five-year-old at heart who still gets excited about these things, heh.)

Anyway, so. This week we are preparing to start creating reports from the project database. We have set up the database on our computers and have been tasked to study them. We were also given a newer version of the previous framework we used, which now uses an object-oriented approach in using datasets and data access objects.
To start, we are creating reports using mock data first to do the layout of the reports, while the project database is still being finalized by the developers. We have already been given samples of the reports we are to make, and they range from somewhat simple to the more complicated. Later on the actual database will be integrated, but for now what we’re doing is the layout first. The new version of the framework makes it easier to integrate the real database later, as we will only have to tweak the part of the code that indicates where data will be taken to populate the report.
In theory this sounds understandable and simple, but the code is quite complicated and confusing especially for someone who has no prior experience with Visual Basic like me. But learning is awesome, and I’m really glad I’m getting to experience new things on this job. 🙂
